Taxus baccata is one of the best-known hedge plants. This Yew hedge (yew tree) grows fairly slowly but is very strong and hardy. Place it in well-draining soil, because a lot of water is not good for this Yew hedge. A hedge must of course be pruned and that is very well possible with this hedge. It is one of the few hedges that you can cut back to the old wood (preferably in the spring and autumn, April and September). Small birds sometimes want to look for cover in this yew, but hedgehogs can also use it as a good hiding place.
