This vigorous, self clinging evergreen climber is ideal for growing over the fences, gates and walls surrounding your wildlife garden and will become an attractive haven for a variety of bird species who prefer open nesting sites including Robins, Blackbirds and Wrens. Ivy will also attract a variety of insects when it flowers in the autumn and during late winter, while the fruits will become a favourite with pigeons.
Wild bees and other pollinators are in decline. This plant is recommended specifically by the RHS as part of the RHS plants for pollinators scheme. This scheme helps gardeners to easily identify plants that encourage bees and pollinators back into the garden.
Climbing plants attract a wide variety of beneficial insects and other wildlife. Climbers can be very versatile and can be used to cover bare walls or screen unsightly areas of garden. Many types will cling to the surface naturally however others such as Clematis or Honeysuckle will need training over wires or trellis for additional support.
Our plants may be delivered in an infant or dormant state but once exposed to sunlight, they will resume growing. We also recommend using a fertiliser or soil conditioner when repotting or relocating into the garden to help them establish quickly.
